Hey friends,

There are no download links as I don't own the rights to the music I'm playing for you. I'm going to try and post these on Fridays if I have time to do so. lots of fun songs on each episode. I hope you enjoy.
Hello friends,
It's that time of year where people act nicer to each other for less then a month! I hope everyone is having a good month so far. Today I wanted to share some messages from one of my favorite bands, The Beatles! They used to record Christmas messages for their fans. It started in 1963 and went all the way to 1969. Now be warned the first message is pretty straightforward but as the band starts getting into drugs the messages get stranger as the years progress. I think these are fun and strange. I hope you enjoy them and I hope all of you have a good holiday season. 2017 has not been a great year for a lot of people. I'm personally looking forward to 2018. But let's go back to a simpler time when The Beatles were recording Christmas massages!
Hey friends,
Happy almost Halloween. I wanted to share something with you today that I hold near and dear to my heart. It's an audio story called Halloween Horror. When I was a kid my Dad gave me a cassette tape. I'm not sure where he got the recording from but on the tape had this story of a guy that ends up inside of a haunted house. Unfortunately the story cuts off right after he walks out of the house so for many years I never got to hear the whole story. But it stuck in my mind as grew up. Not sure what it is about the story that I love so much. I have always adored Halloween and I guess this fits right in with that.
A couple of years ago I was thinking about the story and I was hoping I could try to track it down. I didn't know the title of the story and or who made it. Luckily the internet is a great resource and by typing in a description I was able to track it down. Low and behold I now own it on vinyl which is also amazing! Today I decided I would record an MP3 version off the record player and share it with you. It's creepy and fun. I love playing it every year and I will continue to do so as long as I live. It's short and sweet. I was also blown away to find out that famous voice actors were on this record. Michael Bell who has done countless voices (The Smurfs, Darkwing Duck, Rugrats and so on) and one of my personal inspirations Peter Cullen! Peter has done an insane amount of work in the voice acting industry but I would say his most notable character is Optimus Prime from Transformers. Peter has been a huge inspiration of mine for a very long time. Even though his role is small in this it's great to hear him. This was written and produced by J. Robert Elliot and was released in 1977. It runs about 13 minutes. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do.
Hello all,
it's been a while since my last post. the craziness from Summer has settled and now my favorite season Autumn is upon us. I'm hoping to have more time to spend on acting and music projects now that I'm not traveling every other weekend. Although the holidays are right around the corner so we shall see.
I wanted to share a new song demo with you today. I normally would not post a song at this stage in the writing process but the music project I was working on with this guitar player is no more. The trouble with musicians is that they are flaky and unless everyone is really dedicated then everything can fall apart very easily.
So before you listen, I have just a couple notes about this song. I did not write the instrumental part. When I start working on a song I work on melody and chorus first and then write the lyrics later. So in this case I wrote the melody and chorus but I just made up lyrics on the spot. I have always been good and bullshitting lyrics if needed. I don't meant to say that the words I sing on this are well done and or make a lot of sense, but I think it's OK for being spontaneous.
I hope you enjoy the track and I'm bummed nothing more will come of this but such is life. I have made this available to download if you end up loving it for some reason.

Hey friends,
I got a new mic preamp today that now allows me to record 4 people at a time which is great for future podcasts. But with the tradition of getting new equipment it also needs to be tested. So far I'm happy with the results but I still have some tweaking to do. But without any more explanation here is my newest recording test which just happens to be another Lily Allen song. I always wanted to do a proper cover of this song but that will have to wait for another time. For the moment you get some glorified karaoke. This is the actual instrument track from her album Alright, Still in 2007. Please enjoy and I will talk at you soon.
Hello,
Here we are once again with another recording test song. I have not had much time to play with my new mic so I have dedicated today to mess with it. So far I'm very pleased with it. I plan to do one more cover song with it and I'm going to record some lines for a show. I don't currently have a voice over job but the lines I'm recording could lead to something, ya never know! Anyways this song is originally by Lily Allen and is titled He Wasn't There. I changed a few words around and then changed the title to She Wasn't There. I know super crazy! I love the old timey sound to the track so I wanted to capture that 1920's 1930's vibe. These little text songs are always fun to do and I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to download and share with your friends!
Hello friends,
It has been a while since my last update so I just wanted to touch base and let you know about the things that are going down. During Super Bowl weekend I traveled to visit some friends in Reno. I decided to drive since plane tickets were a bit pricey plus I'm always down for a good road trip. Leaving that Monday my girlfriend and I ran into some serious storms that ended up closing a majority of the highways that would take us home. Only one mountain pass was left open so we decided to take it. To summarize this long story the snow chains broke on my tires and we got stranded on a mountain in the middle of a Blizzard! Thanks to local law enforcement and Cal Trans they saved us from being crushed in an avalanche. After we recovered my truck from the snowy mountain the next day, we had a horrendous 14 hour drive back with a messed up brake line. On top of all that I ended up getting bronchitis and my voice has still not fully recovered from it.
On the bright side a lot of changes for the better have been happening. I recently purchased some new music equipment as I'm currently in the process of working on a new music project. It is in the very early stages but progress is progress. Pictured below is a before and after of my little makeshift studio. On the left is a homemade vocal booth that I have had for almost ten years. I had a hard time parting ways with it as I started my whole voice acting world in that booth. It's where I did all my pro auditions, vocal reels, independent songs and amateur voice work. After so many years the thing was starting to warp and I wanted something that was a little easier to transport. So the vocal shield is what I have now and I also picked up a Shure SM7B.
I had originally planned to finish a new vocal reel last year and that never happened. That is now back on the books. In tradition of buying new music equipment I always like to do a song test recording where I mainly sing a song performed by a female artist....which is also going to happen. I'm pretty much just waiting for my voice to get back to full strength.
In other news my buddy Josh will be visiting San Diego at the end of this month and we plan to record an episode of the podcast. I wish the podcast was more consistent but the schedules of us real humans deems it not so. This year actually marks the 10 year anniversary of the album I made with Villains of Vinyl. My plan right now is hijack my own podcast and turn it into a Villains of Vinyl appreciation thing for many weeks. My goal right now is to play the album and demo tracks almost no one has ever heard. I will talk about the songs and give a little insight into the process of these songs. So I will be straying form the subject matter of the actual podcast but who cares it's my show right?
Last but not least I'm toying with the notion of doing a new podcast that is strictly on this website and will be featured on the Long Walks and Robots blog. It would be a music appreciation podcast where I could intro some songs I have not written and then play them for you. It would be like a mini radio show. I would only be able to have it on this website due to copyright laws. Again this is just an idea I'm tossing around but if you see it pop up on here then I guess you will know it's out. I hope all is well with you dear readers and I'm looking forward to sharing all this new stuff with you this year.
In short I'm glad I did not die on a snowy mountain and my voice should be better soon cause if not what the hell good am I!?
My original thought for this blog was for me to actually you know....blog. But I don't tend to have a lot of free time and while I would like to banter more on the internet I have not really been doing a very good job. To be honest Twitter is where I do most of my rambling. Sooooo for the moment I think I will start posting things I have written on this blog until I decide to write something new.
Today I would like to share some of my poetry that I wrote about 4 years ago. I'm quite fond of it but I'm also pretty sure it will never become anything more than a poem. As for future posts I will also probably post random poetry and lyrics I have written. I wrote this randomly 4 years ago after drinking probably too much bourbon or gin and felt inspired. so without further ado.
The Throne in Outer Space
There are gaps in your stride and secrets in your smiles that waste all of your potential. these moments that you take, when you are awake, yet on the outside you seem so gentle. From your throne in outer space, where you hide your true face and you’re trapped with all the dreams you can’t remember. We find you looking through yet no one else will really do, all the things that make you surrender. Don’t fear the steps you take as the road begins to break we will catch you when you end here. From the all the shows you perform will you make it through the storm? The quest that you take is your questionable contender. From your paradise on Saturn we will keep a lit lantern. When you make it back you will hear the laughter from the fire and the crackle.

Well, my new podcast Everything All The Time is up on Itunes and it's rocking away. I have heard some pretty good feedback so far and I'm really excited about the future for the show. The more we record the easier things get and the smoother things flow. Jeff and I have always had funny conversations which is what spawned the idea for a podcast in my head. I also feel that most podcasts are from famous people and there are not a ton of average joes dishing out funny and interesting material.
With that said I tested the upload waters with Itunes today and the episode went up immediately. That is great news as I have heard of Itunes delays in the past. Since I do this in my free time I need time to edit each episode so generally we are recording on Friday and a new episode goes up the same day we record. This give me a week lead time to prep/edit.
For all the listeners please feel free to contact us about the podcast eattpodcast@gmail.com we will be happy to read any comments, complaints and so on. Again thank you so much for reading this and thank you for subscribing to the podcast. Please make sure you rate it as well. Last but not least as the episodes progress we plan to have other people on so we can widen the conversation, so look forward to that in the future. Episodes 1 and 2 are now available and look for episode 3 on July 1st 2016
Cheers,
- Ryan
Hello internet people,
Welcome to my website. Over the years I have experienced many aspects of many different industries. I have worked in music, film, animation and the alcohol industry. While all my work has been spread out over these fields I have never lost my love or passion for art and or the arts. But the amount of consistent work in the field of art/entertainment has been quite lacking on my end for many years.
My goal is to jump back into this creative pool with a full blown cannonball! I want this site to be my hub of all the things I plan on doing in the next few weeks and for years to come. I have never been the best at social media but I realize that to stay in the game you need to play with the new rules intact. Enough of the old testament and goodbye grandpa pants!
With that said here is some news about the up and coming. I have been working on a new voice reel that is geared towards animation/video games. I'm hoping to have that finished by the end of the week. I also have a few songs being worked on that will be falling under the We're Only Robots group name. I have been wanting to finish the "1st album" of We're Only Robots for years but since it's a spare time project, I work on it when I can. I hope to have the first album finished by the end of the year...but I have been saying that every year for about 5 years now sooooo please don't hold your breath. Also on the horizon will be my first ever podcast, all the details and format are still being planned. New episodes will be posted here on the blog/podcast tab and then will be posted to Itunes and other podcast services.
Please keep in mind that this website is a work in progress. As things progress for me so will the site. It's a bit bare bones right now but I plan to keep on adding to it. If you want to read the stupid things I say and see what I'm drinking you can follow me on twitter @Ryan_Lance.
I'm very excited about all my new projects and I'm glad you have found this site.
