SDVG + Hum & Shiver

Hey friends,

I wanted to give a quick update on the podcast release dates. We decided to release a little later than originally planned. We figured what better way to celebrate our anniversary episode then to release on Halloween weekend. With that being said, SDVG will release on Friday 10/29, Hum & Shiver will release on Halloween. Excited to release both episodes this weekend. Hope you can be spooky with us!

Hum and Shiver!

Hey Friends,

Did you listen to the most recent episode of Sex! Drinks Video Games!? On that episode we announced that we would be doing an offshoot show on the same feed. The show is called Hum and Shiver a Horror Movie Podcast. I’m stoked to reveal the cover art today. I had a lot of fun putting this together and I think it fits the vibe really well. Lucia and I were joking around about what we should call our mysterious person in the raincoat. For now we are calling him The Shiver Man. I know, I know amazing name right!? It took us a whole minute to come up with it. The plan right now is to release our first episode of Hum and Shiver on October 29th. For the time being these are being treated as bonus episodes on the SDVG feed. So if you are subscribed to it then you won’t miss a thing. We want to keep these episodes short and sweet so every other month we are going to chat about one movie and then call it day. We love the spooky season and we are going to keep it going all year round.

PODCASTS!

Hey Everyone,

quick heads up. Tomorrow is now dubbed podcast Monday. Yes I realize that is not a clever name but you’re gonna have to deal with it. Anyways Sex! Drinks! Video Games! will post at 9am tomorrow and then Long Walks and Robots will post at our normal time of 10am. I wanted to make a quick note because in the past when two podcasts posted at the same time things got lost in the feeds. So keep an eye out!

Everything All The Time Podcast lives on in a different form.

Hello everyone,

As you may have known for sometime that my original podcast Everything All The Time ended a couple years ago. I said I was going to leave the episodes up but lately I have thought about how the subject matter of the podcast is not really that relevant to me anymore. I have been debating taking the show down but I had not made up my mind.

A few weeks ago a woman named Melissa Taylor reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to relinquish the name of the podcast as she had wanted to make a podcast of her own with the same name. Seeing as how the podcast was no longer in use, this seemed fine to me. It was only after she explained her podcast that it confirmed it for me. I want to share with you her write up, for her podcast, as her words are going to explain it better than my own.

Hi! I’m Melissa and I’m broken. More like shattered.

Possibly, just..normal.

This podcast came to be after I sat and reflected on this year. School- the world- shut down in March. So I said okay, let’s make it to May, then May came and I thought, okay let’s make it to August, then August came..and we just keep moving the goal post.

And in between all of that?

It feels unrelenting.

People are dying all around us, and it’s not just COVID, I mean it is, but it just feels like so much at once, heroes gone... We have social unrest because the injustices are finally coming to the public forefront with the time for people to just sit and realize what’s happening. And with nothing but despair feeding our minds—this is all we have to focus on.

And who is carrying the burden of all of this? Women and Mothers. I want this to be our historical archive of what happened during this time. Every inequality mothers have historically faced (especially marginalized mothers) is compounded now in this pandemic and political climate.

Each week I will be talking to women and mothers. We may cry. We may laugh. We may need to stop and drink. But our main goal will be to find comfort in each other’s stories and hopefully find a way to climb out of this rubble. Because we have to. We must continue telling stories and uplifting each other. We must sit in our feelings. It’s okay to be sad and frustrated about this time. It’s okay to find some joy too. It’s not an even a balance. It’s a marathon to get out of this alive. So, let’s do it together while also trying to do everything all the time.

So there you have it. I’m going to be taking my podcast down to support a better cause. I appreciate all of you reading this and I appreciate all the original listeners of Everything All The Time. Links to the new podcast are below this post. Please head on over to Melissa’s website and check out here podcast once she gets her first episode up.

If you have any desire to listen to my old podcast I will be taking the episodes down on Monday 10/12/20, so start downloading the episodes now if you want them.
